Klaimee, the Y Combinator Spring 2026 startup building insurance-backed performance warranties for autonomous AI agents, has closed a $5.5 million seed round to expand certification, risk evaluation and liability coverage for enterprises now deploying agentic AI in production, the company said on July 22, 2026.
Underwriting The Gap Cyber And E&O Don't Cover
FundersClub's Alexander Mittal led the round, with participation from ex/ante, Pioneer Fund, Multimodal Ventures, Kima Ventures, Rebel Fund, Robinhood Ventures, Y Combinator and a group of angels. Klaimee argues that traditional cyber insurance only covers external attackers and tech E&O only covers human-written software bugs — leaving a gap when an AI agent hallucinates, takes an unauthorized action, exposes confidential data or makes a wrongful commitment on the vendor's behalf.
Its product bundles a structured risk evaluation, a certification badge that enterprise procurement teams can accept, an adversarial testing playground and both third-party liability and first-party own-damage coverage. Klaimee's initial focus is B2B use cases, non-safety-critical agents in customer support, sales, debt collection and internal operations — leaving out autonomous vehicles, physical robotics and safety-critical systems.
Insurance Operators Meet Agent Engineers
CEO Ines Boutemadja previously ran the consumer product at SafetyWing and structured a Tokio Marine MGA, scaling an insurance startup from $5 million to $60 million. CTO Julien Catonnet spent his career on-call for enterprise software with write access, then moved into AI engineering at VC-backed startups. Boutemadja is the first Algerian woman to join Y Combinator.
Why Agentic AI Insurance Is Suddenly Hot
Klaimee's raise arrives as enterprises stand up agent fleets on top of specialized inference platforms and vertical foundation models, a wave visible in recent deals such as Fireworks AI's $1.5B Series D, Microsoft's Project Perception and ReliaQuest's OpenAI agentic defense partnership. As legal and procurement teams push back on production-agent contracts without proof of coverage, purpose-built AI liability products are moving from category invention to procurement checkbox.
