Portuguese space startup Neuraspace has raised €15.6 million ($18 million) to scale its AI-driven space traffic management platform and its defense-grade sister product, NeuraspaceDEF. The financing, announced August 5, 2026, blends a €6 million Series B round from private investors with €9.6 million from Portugal's EU-backed Recovery and Resilience Plan.
Guarding a crowded orbit
Founded in 2020 and led by former Portuguese Space Agency chief Chiara Manfletti, Neuraspace monitors more than 600 satellites for commercial, institutional and defense customers, including Spire Global and the European Space Agency. Its algorithms fuse ground- and space-based sensor data to predict close approaches and recommend collision-avoidance maneuvers with fewer false alarms than legacy conjunction-warning systems.
NeuraspaceDEF and European sovereignty
The public tranche is earmarked specifically for NeuraspaceDEF, a dual-use platform pitched at defense ministries and civil space agencies seeking sovereign alternatives to US-supplied space situational awareness data. It arrives as European governments accelerate their own SDA build-outs and as commercial constellation growth is straining existing conjunction-screening pipelines.
Rapid revenue growth
Neuraspace says its revenue has grown 350% over the past year, driven by demand from operators of small satellites and government contracts. New capital will fund an expansion of its sensing infrastructure, further autonomy in its operations software, and hiring across engineering and go-to-market teams.
A wider space-safety wave
The round joins a summer of large space-industry deals, including Rocket Lab's $397M SB-AMTI win and AST SpaceMobile's latest BlueBird launch, both of which underline how commercial and defense space operations are colliding — and how badly the sector needs better traffic management.
