Nexcom International unveiled its RoboWIZ AI Robotics Open Platform on August 19 at the 2026 Automation Taipei exhibition, gathering more than a dozen Taiwanese hardware, software and research partners around a shared robotics stack meant to slot Taiwanese components into humanoid, mobile and industrial arm robots without vendor lock-in.
ITRI and the Taiwan ecosystem join the launch
Taiwan's Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI) headlined the launch alongside Nexcom, contributing safety modules, motion-control reference designs and a certification path aligned with Taiwan's push to turn its precision-manufacturing base into a physical-AI export engine. Nexcom said the ecosystem already spans compute modules, sensors, actuators, vision models and simulation tools.
What RoboWIZ actually stitches together
RoboWIZ is positioned as an open composition layer: partners bring drivers, hardware abstraction and AI models that plug into a shared runtime, so system integrators can swap ARM- or x86-based controllers, LiDAR or 3D vision sensors, and different arm or leg vendors without rewriting the stack. Nexcom will keep contributing its industrial PC and IoT gateway hardware, on which the platform runs.
Physical AI as Taiwan's next chip play
Taiwan already anchors the semiconductor supply chain that powers global AI infrastructure. RoboWIZ is the latest sign the island wants a second act in physical AI on top of that base, building on partnerships like NVIDIA's regional AI factory buildouts and the Samsung Foundry price hikes that reflect scarce advanced-node capacity across East Asia.
Roadmap: humanoid demos and integrator kits
Nexcom said early RoboWIZ reference kits are aimed at logistics and service robots first, with humanoid demos planned in 2027 as more members of the ecosystem publish drivers for legged actuators. The launch runs alongside a broader wave of Chinese and Taiwanese robotics activity this week, including the Noitom HiPHI motion dataset drop at the World Robot Conference in Beijing.
