Palladyne AI and FANUC America on Monday announced a strategic collaboration to fuse Palladyne's physical AI software stack with FANUC America's industrial robot portfolio, aiming to loosen the rigid, fixed-purpose deployments that dominate factory floors today.
Six Workstreams, One Goal
The tie-up will pursue six initiatives: optimising Palladyne IQ for FANUC robotic platforms; AI-driven motion planning and adaptive behaviour; teleoperation and human-assisted learning; simulation and model training pipelines; joint validation with manufacturing, warehousing and logistics customers; and standardised deployment workflows for system integrators.
What Palladyne IQ Brings
Palladyne IQ is the company's physical AI platform for helping industrial robots interpret their environment and adapt to it in real time — a departure from teach-pendant scripting that has kept industrial arms locked to a single stock keeping unit. The collaboration is being pitched as a way to attack skilled-labour shortages, product variability and productivity pressure at once.
Palladyne's Second Big Factory-AI Move In A Month
The FANUC deal follows Palladyne's SwarmOS integration with NORDA Dynamics for defense, showing the Salt Lake City company is straddling both military autonomy and industrial physical AI. FANUC, meanwhile, has been re-tooling its cobot lineup with the CRX-3iA ultralight and its Cobot and Go pre-engineered cells.
No Money, No Timeline — Yet
Neither company disclosed financial terms, a launch customer or a firm timeline. Palladyne (NASDAQ: PDYN) framed the arrangement as a multi-phase engineering programme, with early joint work already under way in FANUC America's Rochester Hills, Michigan development labs.
