China North Industries Group Corporation (NORINCO Group) has unveiled Fuxi, a full-size special-purpose humanoid robot designed for all-weather reconnaissance, intelligent patrols and substitute operations in hazardous areas, at the 2026 World Robot Conference (WRC) in Beijing.
A Domestic 'External Avatar' Teleoperation Stack
The state-owned defense conglomerate said Fuxi is paired with a bespoke teleoperation solution it calls external avatar, which NORINCO describes as China's first independently controllable teleoperation system for full-size humanoid robots weighing around 90 kilograms. The system enables real-time human-motion remapping onto the robot, letting a remote operator drive the machine into high-risk environments while a formation of Fuxi units executes coordinated tasks on site.
Multi-Robot Formation And Nighttime Patrols
According to NORINCO's innovation institute, which independently developed the platform with fully domestic technology, Fuxi can identify personnel and issue alerts as part of sentry duty, and multiple units can operate in formation. A live demonstration at the show featured a squad of Fuxi robots conducting nighttime urban inspection tasks with 'multi-robot coordinated management, intelligent assessment and closed-loop response.'
Anchoring A Central SOE Robot Consortium
Fuxi anchors NORINCO's central SOE exhibition area, alongside 68 products from 18 affiliated units spanning intelligent military equipment, lightweight ballistic protection, an edge-cloud computing product with trusted-cloud certification, augmented-vision glasses and a walking-assistance exoskeleton. The WRC opening ceremony also featured a video announcement of a central SOE robot innovation consortium led by NORINCO.
