Kawasaki Robotics and Dexterity Inc. have expanded their collaboration to scale Physical AI for warehouse logistics, pairing Kawasaki's RL030N 8-degree-of-freedom robot arm with Dexterity's Mech "superhumanoid" robots. Announced on June 23, 2026, the deal moves the two companies from a co-design relationship into volume production and deployment of Mechs for tasks like trailer loading and unloading.
Why warehouses break traditional automation
Warehouse logistics is fundamentally different from factory automation. Factories are built around precision, repeatability, and fixed workcells, while logistics is variable: packages arrive in different sizes, weights, and conditions, boxes shift and deform, and contact with conveyors, walls, and surrounding equipment is part of normal operation. Dexterity's Mech design defined the need for a robot arm that is lightweight, dexterous, long-reaching, and robust enough for unavoidable contact.
What the RL030N adds
The RL030N adds an extra articulation axis beyond conventional six-axis arms for confined, variable workflows, and is powered by Kawasaki's open KRNX real-time control API for external AI software, ROS environments, and third-party orchestration systems. Dexterity combines the arm with its Foresight World Model, Mech hardware, and production software stack — a fleet of 68+ autonomous skill agents orchestrated in real time. Mech itself delivers a 5.4-meter armspan, 60kg payload, and an AI-driven sense of touch with 4kHz torque control.
A growing Physical AI race

The partnership underscores how industrial-arm makers and AI software firms are converging on warehouse work, echoing moves like Samsung's Rainbow Robotics piloting its RB-Y1 at Coupang and Sanctuary AI's Physical AI benchmarks. Both companies are showcasing the system at Automate 2026 in Chicago.
