Xiaomi publicly unveiled its next-generation full-size humanoid robot at the 2026 World Robot Conference (WRC 2026) in Beijing on August 19, 2026, capping four months of production-line training at its own auto factory. President Lu Weibing confirmed the debut on Xiaomi Group's Q2 earnings call the evening before, describing humanoid robots as a long-horizon bet aimed first at smart-factory work.

Full-size, 66 degrees of freedom, embodied-model driven

The prototype carries forward Xiaomi's “Tieda” product codename first used on the 2022 CyberOne. It stands about 1.70 meters tall and weighs 66 kilograms, with 66 degrees of freedom across the body — 33 of them concentrated in dexterous hands sized to match frontline factory workers. According to Xiaomi, the exhibition sequence, in which Tieda played a florist handing bouquets to attendees with fist bumps and heart gestures, was driven autonomously by an embodied large model rather than pre-scripted routines.

Auto-factory training pushed nut-install success to 98%

Under the hood is Xiaomi-Robotics-0, the company's general-purpose vision-language-action foundation model, plus multimodal perception and reinforcement learning. Xiaomi says Tieda operated for three-hour stretches at a die-casting workshop self-tapping-nut installation station, improving from 90.2% success in early 2026 to 98% on dual-side operations by July, while meeting the line's 76-second cadence. Center-console side-panel sorting and material-bin folding both cleared 90%, the first time long-duration work on flexible components was achieved on Xiaomi's line.

Positioning inside the “Human x Car x Home” strategy

Xiaomi frames humanoid robots as part of its wider ecosystem rather than a standalone product. Q2 R&D spending hit 9.23 billion yuan ($1.4 billion), up 18.9% year-over-year, with humanoid embodied intelligence flagged among key investment areas alongside smart EVs and AI. Xiaomi has open-sourced its Xiaomi-Robotics-0 model to lower deployment barriers, and in July said its follow-on Xiaomi-Robotics-1 topped RoboCasa365 and RoboDojo benchmarks, ahead of a July 15 release of the 38-billion-parameter Xiaomi-Robotics-U0 world foundation model. Lu Weibing cautioned that large-scale humanoid commercialization remains “considerably distant.”

The debut lands as Beijing hosts one of the busiest weeks in Chinese robotics history, with more than 300 exhibitors at WRC 2026 alongside the 2nd World Humanoid Robot Games at the Ice Ribbon and rival demos from Beijing Humanoid's Tiangong 2.0 and Noitom's 617-hour motion dataset. Tieda will next travel to Europe for further exhibition, Xiaomi said.
